Tennessee cop shooter killed shot and killed in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Nashville authorities say a man wanted in connection with a shooting involving a Tennessee police officer has been killed in Kentucky Tuesday evening.

Metro Nashville Police say 34-year-old Samuel Edwards is accused of shooting a Hendersonville police officer Monday night.

According to authorities, Edwards allegedly stole a pickup truck as he fled from police, but Nashville police did not say where they believed he was heading.

Around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nashville police confirmed via Twitter that Edwards had been killed during an exchange of gunfire with Kentucky State Police in Louisville.

A large police presence has been seen along Dixie Highway near Dixie Garden Drive, but Louisville Metro police have not confirmed if that scene is related to the officer-involved shooting.

LMPD SWAT was on scene, and a witness tells WLKY they saw a car shooting at police during the chase down Dixie Highway.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
